Erect Permanent Memorial for the 18 soldiers murdered at Narrow Water, Co.Down
On the 27th August 1979 there were 18 soldiers mudered at Narrow Water, Warrenpoint, Co.Down. This was the single largest atrocity the British Army suffered from World War ll. 40 years on there still isn't a permanent memorial at the site of the atrocity!
27th August 1979, 18 soldiers and 1 civilian were murdered in cold blood.
There is a wooden fence with poppy wreaths attached which is attacked and decimated on numerous occasions.
The 40th anniversary is coming up in a few months and i feel strongly that the government should make a ruling for a permanent memorial be erected for these men who were deployed to Northern Ireland to do their job and sadly never returned home due to the blood stained hands of the IRA
