Additional bank holiday in May 2020

Petition Details

The Government has chosen to move the traditional early May bank holiday from Monday 4 May to Friday 8 May, 2020 to coincide with the 75th anniversary of VE Day.

This should be an extra bank holiday instead of replacing the existing one. Two bank holidays instead of one: May 4 & May 8, 2020.

Additional Information

There is precedent for additional bank holidays - the Queen's Jubilee in 2012 and the Royal Wedding in 2011.
