Petition Action

An alternative funding option to the UK TV licence should be agreed by end 2019.

Petition Details

The UK TV licence is an unfair and outdated monopoly style funding arrangement for the BBC. There are many other commercially viable public revenue models e.g. Channel 4. This petition is to get the BBC to agree an alternative funding model to reduce the individual cost burden on the UK population.

Additional Information

Funding options:
1.Channel 4 is ALSO publicly owned but commercially run. The revenue raised goes into further programmes and back to the UK creative sector.
2. Fully advertised. Example: Channel 5. Advertising revenues go to the company.
3. Subscription. Example: Netflix. Subscriptions go into the company.
