UK Parliament to show its support for marriage equality in Northern Ireland
This petition asks Parliament to declare its support for marriage equality in Northern Ireland through a symbolic vote, as this is a devolved issue. This will urge the Northern Ireland Executive's politicians to restore devolved government so that this social inequality can finally be eradicated.
Same-sex marriage in Northern Ireland is not legally recognised, with same-sex marriages performed outside Northern Ireland recognised as civil partnerships within its borders. This makes Northern Ireland the only place in the UK without marriage equality. It's time that all nations of the UK allowed equal marriage without exception.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
Members of Parliament voted in favour of amendments to the Northern Ireland Executive Formation Bill on 11 July. These would require the UK Government to extend same-sex marriage to Northern Ireland if the devolved government is not restored.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
You might like to sign this petition, which calls for responsibility for laws on equal marriage in Northern Ireland to be transferred to the UK, if it calls for something you'd like to happen:
