Make it a national requirement for children to learn makaton in schools.
Hi, my goal here is to make learning makaton part of the national curriculum for children primary and secondary school age.
We teach children from primary age languages such as French.
But we don't teach a vital language for many people with disabilities to communicate nationwide.
Why ?
We teach our children languages they may never use, But not ones that could improve the life's of many people with disabilities nationwide.
It's my belief that all children of school age should learn makaton, This prepares them in later life to be able to communicate with people who have disabilities or impairments. This then makes the rights and lifestyle of people with disabilities equal to non disabled or impaired people.
I ask our government to look at this becoming a requirement .
