Make microchip scanning compulsory on a vet visit
When we call our utility companies, we go through a series of questions to confirm our identity for GDPA, just to talk to them for a few minutes. When we take our pets for medical attention, more often than not, nothing is done to confirm either the pets or our own identity.
This needs to change.
As someone who has had a cat go missing, it breaks my heart to think that someone could take him to the vets, say that he is their own and nobody bats an eyelid.
We need to take action to prevent this and reunite possibly thousands of lost animals with their loving owners. All it takes is a scanner to be used at the vets and a quick name confirmation. I know it's more work for our vets but it could save so much heartache.
I will always keep Charlie's microchip up to date, just in case.
