Petition Action

Ban trophy hunting of all wild animals

Petition Details

With the decline in the populations of many wild animals across the world, including tigers, elephants, rhinos and hyenas, now is the time to ban trophy hunting of all wild animals.

Now is the time to ban it!

Additional Information

This is a quote taken from the Living Planet report made in 2018.

Plummeting numbers of mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds and fish around the world are an urgent sign that nature needs life support. Our Living Planet Report 2018 shows population sizes of wildlife decreased by 60% globally between 1970 and 2014.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can only accept petitions which call for actions that are the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament. The hunting of wild animals outside the UK is the responsibility of the government in that country and not the UK Government or Parliament.

You could start a new petition asking to ban the import of wild animal trophies into the UK, if that's something you'd like to see happen.
