Improve democracy at Westminster & public confidence in our head of government.
A small (130,000 or so) Conservative party members are due to select their party leader who will automatically become Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. These party members are not representative of the UK electorate & are likely to select an person for their interests, not that of the wider UK.
Need a consistent robust process for all candidates to become Prime Minister to ensure proper public scrutiny and no "coronations".
Increase likelihood person selected has a full policy platform and not standing on a single issue ie brexit alone.
Prevent knee jerk selections and narrow interests exerting worrying level of influence.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
