Allow parents access to their child’s records for all schools
Academy schools and independent schools are not covered by the Data Protection Act provisions that allows parents to access their children’s school records. It is instead left at the discretion of the schools and can depend on the relationship between the parents and school.
The Government should update this legislation to ensure that all parents can see their child’s records, helping them to solve disputes and have confidence in the actions of the school.
