Slash the sovereign grant paid to the royal family using taxpayers money

Petition Details

Austerity has led to major cuts in vital services; including the police force, NHS and other social services. All the while, in this financial year alone, for example, the total Sovereign Grant was £82.2 million — using taxpayers money. As British people, we must decide where our priorities lie.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. The Sovereign Grant is fixed at a percentage of the income from the Crown Estate so is already self-funded.

You can find out more here:

www.gov.uk/government/publications/sovereign-grant-act-2011-guidance/sovereign-grant-act-2011-guidance

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
