Petition Action

Make Animal Cruelty sentences a minimum of 5 years, not a maximum.

Petition Details

This petition relates to Michael Gove's proposed bill to increase sentences to 5 years for the more severe cases of animal cruelty. It is felt that five years is not enough, and should be considered to be a minimum sentence, with higher sentences for the more severe cases.

Additional Information

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-48766531 this is the news article relating to the proposed bill.
In the article it talks about the Animal Welfare (Sentencing) Bill which currently has support, but a significant number of people I have spoken with feel that the sentence is not harsh enough for the more severe cases and we feel more needs to be done.
