Petition Action

Legal minimum for hamster cage sizes: online and in traditional shops.

Petition Details

Most hamsters are kept in cages that are too small, very much under the RSPCA's 80x50cm continuous floor space minimum.

Additional Information

Modular cages are marketed as permanent living dwellings, yet they can not even accommodate the recommended wheel size (min 28cm) and are so small that they can cause chronic stress.

The government needs to do something about this. This would make it an offence to sell and use cages for hamsters which are below 80cmx50cm.
