Block a Border Poll for Irish Unity!
There are many people in Northern Ireland who rather stay a part of our United Kingdom and leave the EU rather than staying in EU and reuniting with the Republic of Ireland. The result for the 1973 Border Poll should be respected and we should not have another Border Poll on this issue.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't solely responsible for the issue you raise. The possibility of a Border Poll is set out in the 1998 Belfast Agreement which was agreed between the UK and Irish Governments, and can only be changed by the agreement of both Governments.
You could start a petition calling on the UK Government to negotiate with the Irish Government to remove provisions for a Border Poll from the Belfast Agreement, if that's what you'd like to see happen.
