Give the students of Appleton academy the right to wear skirts if they choose.
A new uniform rule has been created for September 2019 stating that all students must wear trousers under the guise of becoming gender neutral. However, restricting clothing choice is a direct contradiction of gender neutral clothing and is not offering fair choice to its students.
No consultation was offered and despite telling the local papers that the parents and students were all supportive of the decision, the truth was the majority of the parents, pupils and staff were completely unaware, and it was only because it was mentioned in the newsletter sent home to the primary students that the plans were revealed.
