Petition Action

Ban the advertising of Internal Combustion Engine cars on UK Television.

Petition Details

Back in 1965 the UK government banned TV advertising for cigarettes. This was done because of mounting evidence showing the massive health implications. Today, as we face a climate emergency, Is it time for the government to ban the advertising of cars with internal combustion engines on UK TV?

Additional Information

The government supports Electric Vehicle adoption by providing a £3500 subsidy on EV purchases and the OLEV grant to have a home charger installed.

There are mounting studies and scientific papers linking many health issues to poor air quality caused by burning fossil fuels.

This TV advertising ban would send the right message while costing the UK tax payer nothing.
