Stop people convicted of animal cruelty from holding a public office.
We would ask the government to consider changing the law in order to prohibit persons with a conviction for any animal welfare or animal cruelty offences from holding a public office, or standing as an elected representative for a public office.
We are a nation of animal lovers, yet it seem incongruous that a person who has a conviction for animal cruelty or poor animal welfare is not prohibited from holding or standing for a public office.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. In particular we're not sure which public offices you're concerned about.
We can only accept petitions which call for clear actions that are the responsibility of the Government or Parliament. You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do. For example, a petition calling for people convicted of animal cruelty offences to be disqualified from being Members of Parliament, if that's what you'd like to happen.
