STOP unfairly penalising private landlords
Many legislative changes affecting private landlords has been implemented recently, while this is a good way forward to ensure tenants have some protection against unruly landlords it seems there is no support for genuine decent landlords to regain properties or rent arrears unless extremely costly
Tenant owes £2000 rent arrears, they were in receipt of universal credit with an element paid for housing costs, application was made to have rent paid direct to landlord, tenant refused the application. Award continued to be paid to tenant. Minimal repayment plan refused by tenant, tenant now has DRO in place, landlord unable to pursue tenant further. A Deposit of £500 is held with DPS but tenant refused to agree repayment to landlord. One bad tenant can have a detrimental affect on decent ones

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.
You could start a new petition asking for landlords to be paid directly by DWP, rather than via tenants, if that's what you'd like to happen.
