Make it mandatory for children services workers to record meetings with parents
This includes social workers across all local authorities and cafcass workers including children’s guardians. All meetings including emergency assessments, parenting assessments, foster placement assessments and special guardian assessments should be recorded as automatic, mandatory procedure.
Many parents and members of the wider family feel they are misquoted, or things are written in reports that they haven’t even said. Factual information is often incorrect also. If recordings of assessments and all meetings were mandatory, it would save precious time in court debating who said what. Paperwork would be accurate and there would be evidence to rely upon to help prepare paperwork. The Transparency Project discusses this issue here: https://archive.org/details/fjc-12th-debate-dec-18
