People who abuse animals such as dogs should get jail time
I think many know that people are getting away with animal abuse far too much, some with just a fine and some with absolutely no punishment. As an animal lover my self I strongly believe that these criminals should get the same treatment as they would if they were to abuse a person. Jail time.
You see a lot of articles in the news on people abusing animals, statistics show that dogs are the most abused animals in the UK and cats been the 2nd most abused animals. Dogs and cats don’t have the same ability to defend their selfs and I think a fine is not enough to punish these awful people who abuse these helpless animals. Something needs to be done to stop these people from getting away with it and I strongly believe that a jail time sentence is the right punishment.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do, for example a petition calling for a particular minimum custodial sentence for animal cruelty.
There are already petitions on this issue, which you might like to sign if they call for things you want to happen. We can't open new petitions which call for the same action as an open petition. You're more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.
