Prohibit or Limit Service Charges on Help To Buy Properties
Currently, you are subjected to rent, mortgage and then a service charge that is added by the Housing Association. The addition of the service charge is a stealth way of making the total cost higher than private purchase while semantically being able to claim that rent is "cheaper" due to discount.
Currently, you are subjected to a rent for the part of the property you are purchasing, then the cost of the mortgage and an additional service charge imposed by the housing Association for "upkeep", when the "ground rent" on a private sale may be £200 a year, a Help To Buy property may charge this a month - for the same thing. This blatant exploitation should be curbed and Housing Associations should not be allowed to charge more than private sale ground rent.
