Petition Action

Introduce legislation for cyclists, bring them in line with other road users

Petition Details

Cyclists should conform to the road traffic act as with other road users. All cyclist over 16 years of age should hold a provisional licence. and conform to the the same laws and restrictions as mopeds and motorcycles, they should also carry minimum third party insurance linked to said license.

Additional Information

To bring cyclist in line as road users they must conform to the laws and restriction placed on other road users. In having a provisional licence to use the road they are subject to points and fines and possible disqualification. Third party insurance also protects other road users, and ensures liabilities are met by offending cyclists. Such things as cycling on the pavement, no lights, cycling. on crossings, jumping lights, illegal manouvers etc would result in fines and endorsements and bans.
