Give all parents basic paediatric first aid training.
Today I helped a frantic mother whose 1 year old had stopped breathing. The mother had run, in a nightshirt with her naked daughter from her flat to the street to find help. Had she known some basic First Aid she would have been able to start helping her immediately.
Each day around 40 under-5s are rushed to hospital after choking on something, or swallowing something dangerous. How many parents actually know what to do in this situation?
I think all parents should have the knowledge to be able to save their children. All nursery staff have to be first aid trained so why aren't parents?
