Petition Action

Make online platforms legally recognised as publishers

Petition Details

To stop online platforms allowing anyone to put fraudulent, abusive, violent and racist web content online by making online platforms responsible for content by being recognised legally as publishers.

Additional Information

A recent legal case regarding Martin Lewis successfully suing Facebook due to his image being used without his consent to sell financial products shows this can be done. BBC presenter Carol Kirkwood’s identity was being used without consent to sell sliming products. Regulations needs to be put in place to stop the plethora of sites that promote hate or abuse.
