New Legislation - Local Authorities must provide post 16 SEND transport
Children by law must remain in education/training until 18. The education act only states statutory school age to be 16. This has created a loop hole where Local Authorities have no statutory duty to provide or assist with transport for students with SEND to get to their education / training
This loop hole should be closed to help protect vulnerable students with Special Educationally Needs and Disabilities access education and training to fulfill their full potential and become as independent as their needs allow them.
