Prevent MPs from changing party while parliament is sitting
In the UK, the great majority of voters probably vote for a candidate based on the party that he/she represents, not on the personal qualities of the individual. They expect the candidate to represent the party's views in parliament. By changing party, MPs use & abuse the people who voted for them.
If an MP wants to change party they should wait for a General Election or trigger a by-election.
