Petition Action

Boris Johnson to Resign as PM and call a General Election before 31st October.

Petition Details

We, the undersigned, demand that Boris Johnson resigns as Prime Minister, and calls a General Election before 31st October 2019. His current mandate has been only been approved by members of the Conservative and Unionist Party - no-one else!

Additional Information

In 2007, Boris Johnson expressed disgust at the then-Prime Minister Gordon Brown for not obtaining a mandate from the British electorate when he took over from Tony Blair.

12 years later, and Mr Johnson appears to be about to do the exact thing that he accused Gordon Brown of!

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can't accept petitions about appointments, which includes calling for Ministers to be sacked or for a vote of no confidence.

If you're concerned about a particular policy or decision that's the responsibility of Government or the House of Commons, you could start a petition about that.
