Petition Action

Self inflicted conditions and the cost to the NHS

Additional Information

Self inflicted conditions cost the NHS huge sums of money. For example:
alcohol abuse £3 billion a year
drug abuse £3.7-6.8 billion a year
obesity £4 billion a year

This money should be available to those who are ill through no fault of their own.

Make self abusers accountable for their actions by making them pay for any treatment within the NHS, or require them to attend private treatment centres.
