City status in the United Kingdom is granted by the monarch, and there are currently 69 cities in the UK - London is not one of them. Both the City of London (Square Mile) and the City of Westminster are classed as cities but London as a whole does not have city status

Additional Information

As the UK’s capital, all of London (Greater London) should have city status
