Make it a legal obligation for a general election when a Prime Minister resigns
When a Prime Minister resigns, the new PM is chosen by their party. There is currently no obligation for a general election to be held unless one is due already, despite that new PM having no mandate from the general population. A general election should be a legal obligation in this scenario.
In 2007 Boris Johnson criticized then PM Gordon Brown for not holding an general election when he assumed office after Tony Blair's resignation(1). He has now hypocritically done the same. Only 0.14% of the population got to vote for our new leader(2). This is not democratic.
