Abolish the UK’s 2003 communication act section 127.
The United Kingdom’s 2003 communication act section 127 is a direct infringement upon freedom of speech.
The section states that anything considered “grossly offensive” is a crime. A law such as this is entirely subjective, and laws should be based on facts. Not feelings.
Hate speech is not real. Something somebody might find offensive, another person might not. Does that mean that person should be sentenced for “hurting someone’s feelings”? If a message is a direct threat and/or a call of action to cause violence, then it is a crime, but if that person is exercising their right to freedom of speech which might be considered “extreme” then that person should be well within their right to do so; especially if it is an opinion (subjective), or a joke.
