Volunteer work for people on benefits
People on benefits often find it hard to return to work since they lose the skills looked for by employers. A government scheme to promote volunteering for people on benefits as part of the Big Society would help those receiving benefits to return to work, but also the wider community, since volunteer work could include painting town halls, working in libraries etc.
