Petition Action

Compel rail companies to decommission diesel engines.

Petition Details

5 years ago Chiltern Railways bought diesel engines that require minimum 20 minutes of idling. Air and noise pollution increased beyond acceptable levels. St. Mary’s school, Enford St, was declared the most polluted school in Britain.Use of asthma inhalers by the pupils increased significantly.

Additional Information

Chiltern Railways assert it is ‘too expensive’ to covert their stock. They insist tax payers should pay for new stock.
Why are they not subject to the same as private vehicles paying the ULEZ charge?
why should tax-payers subsidise a company polluting the environment
Why should the NHS have to treat people who are being poisoned by a private business?
Why should passengers, passersby and residents live in diesel fumes to protect the profits of Chiltern Railways shareholders?
