Outlaw zero hours contracts, employers must guarantee a minimum of hours.
Although employment in the UK is high, millions of workers are on zero hours contracts with no job security, paid leave or sick pay. Even if they are willing to work additional they are not guaranteed any work. The insecurity created by zero hours contracts can lead to homelessness and debt.
Zero hours contract employees are expected to be ready to work at short notice, they are effectively on call with no financial reward.
