Petition Action

Make the UK Government accountable for The Climate Emergency

Petition Details

Reporting Quarterly Greenhouse Gas Emissions would show their commitment to the UK becoming Carbon Neutral by 2050. The public should be entitled to be able to monitor the Government's progress and hold them accountable for their actions.

Additional Information

Other countries have already started to report their progress, such as Sweden - https://www.scb.se/en/finding-statistics/statistics-by-subject-area/environment/environmental-accounts-and-sustainable-development/system-of-environmental-and-economic-accounts/pong/statistical-news/environmental-accounts--emissions-to-air-fourth-quarter-of-2018/

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you are concerned about climate change, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
