Take account of the views of under 18's when making decisions on climate change.
Adults are responsible for the climate change we are experiencing. They can also make the decisions that will improve or worsen the situation.
Under 18s cannot vote, but will be the ones most affected by these changes so their opinions should be taken into account before such decisions are made.
We propose the government create a mechanism by which the views of the under 18s can be canvassed by politicians in relation to climate issues.
This could be through the creation of a local structure eg. a series of regular scheduled meetings between local MPs and student eco-representatives from the schools in their ward.Students should be given the opportunity to express their views on loca,l national and international climate policies with a view to influencing legislation through their MP's

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand that you'd like young people to be consulted on climate change policy, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do to in order to gather the views of young people.
You could start a new petition asking for the Government to set up a citizens assembly for under 18's to gather their views on climate change or a petition requiring the Government to consult with focus groups made up of young people when creating climate change policy, if that's something you'd like to see happen.
