Petition Action

A call for an immediate British intervention in Hong Kong.

Petition Details

If China will no longer hold itself to account for it’s legally binding obligations to the Sino-British Joint Declaration, then this petition calls for The UK to immediately intercede by any & all means necessary to protect the rights, lives & liberties of the peoples of Hong Kong.

Additional Information

After the “Umbrella Revolution” in 2014; The British foreign office announced that Chinese officials now treat the Joint Declaration as "void".

In 2015 the government assessed that there had already been at least one “serious breach” of the Joint Declaration by the PRC. More have followed.

“the Joint Declaration is a legally binding treaty, registered with the UN, which continues to remain in force. It remains as valid today as it did when it was signed over thirty years ago”-Foreign Office

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
