Implement a tax on red meat
Livestock farming is the largest contributor to enhanced green house gases, outnumbering emissions from planes and car put together.
Climate change is the biggest threat to our planet and reducing the consumption of red meat is the quickest way to reach emission reduction targets.
Additionally red meat (particularly processed) is proven to have a correlation between increased risk of developing certain cancers (bowel) In addition it can increase cholesterol which can lead to heart disease.
A study published in The BMJ 11th June 2019 ‘Association of changes in red meat consumption with total and cause specific mortality among US women and men: two prospective cohort studies’ found that Increases in red meat consumption, especially processed meat, over eight years were associated with a higher risk of death in the subsequent eight years in US women and men.
