The national health services reinforce prevention of a vitamin D deficiency.
A very large proportion of the UK population around 80% in Scotland) during the October-April months will be deficient in vitamin D. This has medium/long term health implications. This has been acknowledged by UK governments but little has been done to enforce the NICE recommendations on vitamin D.
NiCE publications on need for UK residents to consider taking vitamin D supplements. NHS guidance documents on need to take supplements.
Various UK press articles, including those by scientists recently.
Many studies on worldlwide vitamin D deficiency eg in Pubmed.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do, for example to fund awareness raising programmes or increase funding for research into or treatment of vitiamin D deficiency.
