Make it illegal for companies to use plastic that’s not needed in packaging
Companies use plastic in packing when there are alternatives and they could use just a box.
Take biscuits as an example they come in a cardboard box wrapped in plastic sat in some more plastic. You can get rid of the plastic but they won’t last as long. That’s a sacrifice I can make for the planet.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We understand you're concerned about plastic packaging, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. In particular, we're not sure if you're concerned about food packaging or packaging more broadly. We're also not sure exactly what you'd consider unnecessary packaging.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.
There are petitions about using the tax system to incentivise alternatives to plastic packaging, which you might like to sign. You're more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.
