Petition Details

on completion of any uk referendum held the country will allow the result to stand. For this to happen, in the future, a more substantial amount of voters must be heard with a number up to 50% of the electorate and a minimum of 60% voting in favour. All MP’s will be accountable to make this happen.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand you're concerned about referenda, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. In particular, we're not exactly sure what you mean by a law of non-objection and we're not sure exactly what minimum turn out you want to set.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you want the Government or Parliament to do, for example make referenda legally binding where voter turn out is 50% or more and where 60% of votes are in favour of a proposal, if that's what you'd like to happen.
