Petition Action

Stop store gift cards from having an expiry date.

Petition Details

Store gifts cards can be time limited, so if received as a gift you have a limited time in which to use it. This is wrong. A store has received money for the gift card and therefore as long as it's a going-concern the business should honour the gift card and provide goods/services.

Additional Information

Please read this article on the issue. Millions of pounds have been taken by retailers without providing goods or services. It's been going on long enough and now needs to stop.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

This is a decision for retailers and not the UK Government or Parliament.
