Petition Action

What percentage of charity money is actually used to help others?

Petition Details

There are so many charities who pay their Directors and CEO hundreds of thousands of pounds per year in wages. Staff wages are higher than the general average. We the public give to charities thinking we are giving to help others.

Additional Information

The huge amount of money given to charities that are spent on wages is an insult to those who give up their time and energy freely and to those who give their hard-earned money thinking they are helping others.
Each charity must display in all advertisements, website and any form of communication what percentage of a pound actually goes to the cause they say they are supporting.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action. We understand you're concerned about how charities spend their money but we're not sure exactly what you want the Government to do.

Charities are subject to financial reporting requirements, depending on their size and type. You can find out more here:

The Charity Commission publishes financial data from charities in England and Wales. You can find out more here:

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.
