Ban airlines from being able to overbook flights.
After our recent honeymoon to Africa, our flight was overbooked. Luckily, after a very stressful while, we were able to board last minute.
This needs to stop - it causes unecessary stress, it's is immoral and simply unfair.
However, I don't understand how this is allowed. If a passenger doesn't show up for a flight, they don't get a refund. So the airline still gets that money.
It's like selling 55000 concert tickets for a venue that only seats 50000! Booking an un Uber for 10, but you can only take 4! Selling a house to 2 people, but only 1 can live in it! None of this would be allowed...
Essentially, airlines are conning passengers.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
The issue you raise is the responsibility of the European Union, not the UK Government or Parliament.
You could start a new petition asking that when we leave the EU the Government and Parliament make a new law to require airlines operating out of UK airports to guarantee that they will not overbook flights, if that's what you'd like to happen.
