Update the code of conduct for MPs to sanction misleading and mis- information

Petition Details

MPs should be subject to a higher standard of conduct than mere free speech. False information (misinformation) should lead to disciplinary action. Misleading information, which is so deficient that it promotes incomplete or insufficient beliefs, should also result in disciplinary action.

Additional Information

Standards on MPs that raise the quality of information but still protect free speech is possible given how educated the UK is.
Examples of code breaches from the 2016 referendum:
1) Leave: “We send £350m to the EU each week” constitutes both breaches and is misleading as many members of the public won’t know how much £350m is worth relative to total income.
2) Remain: “Families would be worse off by £4,300 by 2030” constitutes both breaches because the inaccuracy of the prediction was omitted.
