If an MP defects, this should automatically trigger an immediate By-Election.
A large number of MPs, elected by their constituents on the basis of their parent party's manifesto, have recently defect from their original party. Voters are left without an MP from their chosen party to represent their interests. The defector's party allegiances will have necessarily changed.
