Let the People decide our future with the EU

Petition Details

The original referendum had flaws that have led us to years of people claiming that only their interpretation of the result is correct or dismissing the result on technicalities. Some claiming that the will of the country has changed, some saying that more than ever we want to leave.

Additional Information

To fix this we need to have a LEGALLY BINDING referendum (open to all UK citizens) based on a simple majority of those that vote. This needs to leave no wiggle room for mis-interpretation or delay.

This is what I believe those questions should be.

1. Should the UK revoke Article 50 and stay in the EU?

STAY or LEAVE

2. If more that 50% vote NOT to revoke article 50. Should we leave with the current EU proposed deal OR leave with no deal in place.

LEAVE WITH CURRENT DEAL or LEAVE WITH NO DEAL

This will be followed 1 week later by a General Election with the winning party having 1 month from the election date to enact the will of the people. If we work quickly this can still happen by October 31st the current deadline.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. In particular, we're not sure what you want to happen after the second stage of your proposed referendum.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.

There's already a similar petition about a having a binding, two-stage EU referendum. You might like to sign this petition if it calls for something you'd like to happen. You're more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.
