The government fund programmes to raise awareness of UK vitamin D deficiency.
Vitamin D deficiency in the UK is very widespread and despite the government/NHS to advise the public to take vitamin D supplements, very little appears to be being done to reinforce this. The health impact of this may be very serious, as has been widely accepted and action is urgently needed.
See NICE and NHS references to vitamin D deficiency and need for supplements.
See articles by Dr Helga Rhein on vitamin D deficiency (an Edinburgh GP).
See references in Pubmed on vitamin D deficiency.
See recent UK newspaper articles on vitamin D deficiency.
