Plebiscite/Referendum on Kashmir in accordance with UN res 47.

Petition Details

Since India and Pakistan gained independence from the British Empire they have conflicted over the state of Jammu and Kashmir which has resulted in the deaths of atleast 100,000 people.

We are calling for the British government to take a proactive approach in resolving this ongoing conflict.

Additional Information

The UN resolution 47 states,

"...both India and Pakistan desire that the question of the ascension of Jammu and Kashmir to India or Pakistan should be decided through the democratic method of a free and impartial plebiscite."

The people of J & K have a right to decide whether they wish to a part of India, Pakistan or an Independent nation.

We call on the UK government to lobby India, Pakistan, the EU/UN to pursue this resolution via diplomacy and independent election officials from the EU/UN.
