Petition Action

Ensure HOC-Speaker John Bercow is granted peerage to House Of Lords.

Petition Details

Commons Speaker John Bercow will be denied a seat in the House of Lords.
House Speakers are normally elevated to the upper chamber when they resign. Government says that 'no one is rushing' to give Mr Bercow a peerage.

Additional Information

John Bercow is set to become the first Speaker in 230 years not to be offered a peerage when he quits next month.

Yesterday he announced he will stand down on October 31st.

But Boris Johnson is planning to exact revenge on Mr Bercow for his ‘bias’ over Brexit by denying him a seat in the Lords.

*BLOCK THIS MOVE* Should the government try to deny his peerage.

He has well & truly earned his seat. It’s such a shame to see him stand down. Only man to keep control of parliamentary procedure.
