Devolution of Responsibilities to Local Councils
We, the undersigned, exercising the provisions conferred to us by the:
(a) Local Democracy, Economic Development & Construction Act 2009, and
(b) Cities & Local Government Devolution Act 2016
do hereby petition Her Majesty's Government to undertake a review of devolution to Local Councils.
We request that existing legislation be amended or new legislation be enacted in order to allow for the option to devolve all or some responsibilities over planning, licensing, highways, housing, transport, traffic management, environment and Council Tax collection from Local Authorities to Local Councils, and allow the Local Authorities to hear appeals.
Explanatory Note - The term 'Local Council' refers to Town, Parish and Community Councils.
